How Often Should a Men’s Team Meet? Weekly vs. Monthly

by Art Muir, Former Momentum Chief

Men’s teams typically meet weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. There is no single right answer — each cadence has trade-offs, and the best choice depends on where the men in the group are in their lives and how long they’ve been meeting together.

What matters far more than the frequency is the consistency. A monthly group that never misses a meeting builds more trust than a weekly group that meets sporadically.

Weekly Men’s Groups

Weekly meetings build momentum and depth quickly. Men in acute life transitions such as divorce, job loss, grief, and recovery, often benefit from weekly cadence because the issues they’re navigating don’t wait a month. The trade-off is that weekly can burn out members with demanding schedules.

Bi-Weekly Men’s Groups

Bi-weekly is often the sweet spot: frequent enough to maintain connection and momentum, spaced enough to avoid burnout, and compatible with most men’s schedules. It’s the most common cadence for established teams at Momentum.

Monthly Men’s Groups

Monthly meetings work for mature teams where members have been together for years and already know each other well. Monthly is also the default for Momentum’s online meetings, which are designed to be accessible to men who can’t commit to a local weekly team.

Which Cadence Is Right for You?

  • Starting a brand-new team — weekly or bi-weekly builds trust faster

  • Established team with deep relationships — monthly can work well

  • Navigating a major life transition — weekly gives the support you need

  • Tight work or family schedule — bi-weekly or monthly is more sustainable

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should a men’s group meet?

Most men’s groups meet weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Bi-weekly is the most common cadence for sustainable, long-running teams.

Is weekly too often for a men’s group?

For many teams, no — especially when members are navigating active life transitions. Weekly builds trust fastest but can burn out members with demanding schedules.

Is once a month enough for a men’s group?

For mature teams with established trust, yes. For brand-new teams still building relationships, once a month is usually too infrequent to develop depth.

What is the most common meeting frequency for men’s teams?

Bi-weekly. It balances consistency and sustainability and is the most durable cadence for long-term men’s groups.
